Origin
At Hack the Law, Cambridge 2026, our founding team came together through three separate winning projects — each judged by the firm that set the challenge. Each solved a different piece of the same problem: structured rules, evidence traceability, verified claims, version-aware checks, a clear review trail.
We merged the strongest elements of all three into one lawyer-in-the-loop platform, under Lexis Labs Pty Ltd.

We kept talking to the firms who judged us — and to others. That conversation told us where the platform actually belonged.
Better-prepared enquiries, structured before they reach a fee earner.
The checks required under EU AMLD (ZPPDFT-2 in Slovenia) run as a rule pack — document collection, register checks and the compliance file automated, with the professional signing acceptance.
A visa route, an AML check, a conflict check — each is a data file to the engine, not a rebuild.

The product
Six properties, not features — the architecture the whole platform is built on.
Legal requirements encoded as deterministic, versioned rule packs — pure functions that run and are tested with the LLM switched off. Adding a new legal domain is legal research, not engineering: a rule pack is a data file.
Every fact traced to a client utterance or source document. Nothing is unexplained.
When regulation changes, the rule pack changes. Every past check stays auditable against the version it ran on.
The software never concludes. Conclusion words are banned from client-facing output and unit-tested to stay banned. Judgment goes to a professional, who reviews, edits and signs.
The engine collects supporting documents, structures the enquiry, and drafts the file and report for the professional to edit and sign.
Deploys on-premise or in the firm's controlled infrastructure. Client data never leaves the firm — the engine and its rule packs come to you. We share the method, not the data.
